Paving Superintendent

Duties & Expectations

We are currently seeking an experienced Paving Superintendent to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in asphalt paving operations and the ability to coordinate tasks related to paving and grading on residential, commercial, and other projects. The candidate should be self-motivated, career-driven, and possess strong leadership qualities.

General Expectations

• Understand the various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grading, drainage, mix designs, job plans & specifications, compaction, and other details related to asphalt paving.
• Train, coach, and effectively lead a crew of 5-10 team members by delegating tasks to ensure daily production targets are met or exceeded.
• Schedule trucking, equipment, and labor needs in coordination with the operations manager for upcoming work.
• Maintain open communication with the operations manager and project managers; quickly report any issues that may affect project plans.
• Operate equipment as needed (e.g., asphalt paver on the screed side) during different phases of the job.
• Communicate regularly with asphalt plant operators throughout the workday.
• Submit daily timecards capturing production details, equipment, and labor utilized for completed tasks.
• Ensure a safe and efficient work environment through effective communication with crew members and management.

Safety

• Assist with adherence to the SDI Safety Plan.
• Maintain housekeeping and perform regular inspections of work areas for unsafe conditions or acts.
• Set an example by wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforcing its use among crew members.
• Assist in the immediate reporting of all incidents and/or injuries.
• Submit an Accident/Injury Report to a Safety Officer as required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
